Arson Watch Reward Program


TEACHER INFORMATION

September 2015

Dear Massachusetts School Educator:

The Arson Watch Reward Program is pleased to announce its 34th Annual County and Statewide Fire Safety Poster Contest for all students in grades 6-8 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The contest may begin immediately.

Last year 13 out of 14 counties participated! To those of you who were involved last year, we extend our sincere thanks. We ask those of you who were unable to become involved last year to please make every effort to participate this year. Our goal is to have the participation of every county in the State of Massachusetts.

Please review all material contained within the Poster Contest Tab, especially the following::

  1. Contest Rules – please read carefully as some requirements may have changed.
  2. Judging Criteria.
  3. List of 2015 poster contest winners
  4. Poster Information Form - this information must be provided on the back of each poster or they may be disqualified.
  5. **NEW** - Submission Sheet to be included with each package of entries.

All posters should be submitted to MPIUA, hopefully with the help of your local fire department.  If your fire department assists in or promotes this project in any way, please note their name and department on the poster information you will place on the back of each poster.  If your fire department is unable to assist, please feel free to submit your posters directly to:

 We are requesting that each teacher put a note on the top of their submissions, indicating the name and email address of the school contact and the number of posters being submitted – the same contact info should be noted on the back of each poster. If there is more than one teacher submitting posters, please separate posters by teacher and have a sheet with contact information on each pile indicating who they are from and how many submissions. We have provided a form (#5 above) to assist you in this request.

All entries should be received by Wednesday, March 2, 2016.All entries will be separated by county so please make sure the name of your county is clearly written on the outside of the envelope! First and Second place winners will be chosen from each county that participates. All First place county winners will be entered into the statewide contest, from which First, Second and Third place winners will be chosen.

All First and Second place county winners will be honored at an awards luncheon, attended by their parents, teachers, principals and local fire officials, at 12:00 Noon on Thursday June 2, 2016 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel, Framingham, MA.At the luncheon the three statewide winners will be announced!
